Jaclyn to visit schools, meet and greet with Japanese children devastated by the tsunami and families of U.S. Military Troops, with a reading of her award-winning children’s book, Wacky Jacky –The Story Of An Unlikely Beauty Queen in support of ‘victims of bullying’ worldwide
Jaclyn Stapp, accomplished philanthropist, spokesperson, model and children’s book author, is taking her message of hope and determination to the children of tsunami-stricken areas of Japan’s northeastern coast, such as Sendai and Ishinomaki. She is also meeting the children on U.S. military bases in Japan to support continued recovery and revitalization along with her husband, Grammy Award winner Scott Stapp, singer, songwriter and voice of Creed.
In an effort to raise morale and build hope for children affected by the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami, the Stapps will spend their time with both Japanese tsunami victims and U.S. troops. Jaclyn is donating books and reading her story, Wacky Jacky: The Story of an Unlikely BeautyQueen to Japanese children affected by the tsunami and now live in temporary housing facilities. Her story emphasizes and teaches lessons in self-esteem, positive attitudes, and hope. Husband Scott Stapp will perform an acoustic show on board the USS George Washington at Yokosuka Naval Base for several thousand troops stationed in Japan. He will take part in a music program for tsunami victims, along with a meet and greet and Q&A.
“It is an honor to have the chance to visit Japan and help continue to raise awareness for the disaster relief.” says Stapp “Our goal is to bring positive light to the inspiring children affected by the tsunami who have continued to persevere over the last year, despite losing everything. We could not be more proud of U.S. Military troops and their families based in Japan for their sacrifices for our country. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to meet and read to them and look forward to sharing a message of encouragement with both the Japanese children and the U.S. Military families stationed there.”
As a family effort, the Stapps invitation to Japan will help demonstrate how American families are dedicated to helping children and families who suffer in any way around the world. For more information or find out how to help, visit http://usjapantomodachi.org/.

Looking back on her school years, Jaclyn Stapp remembers they were not always kind years. The Boca Raton mother of three and wife of Grammy-winning artist Scott Stapp, former lead singer of the band Creed, can vividly remember being teased over her frizzy, black hair and thin legs. It didn’t help either that as the child of parents of Jordanian descent, she packed hummus and pita bread for lunch, not a traditional PB&J sandwich. Because she stood out, she paid a price.
“It was hard to not always fit it,” she recalls.
Those awkward school years behind her, Stapp now proudly stands out with a number of different roles.
Jacky is different from her classmates. Her family is from Jordan, she eats strange food and she has crazy, wild hair. But Jacky volunteers at the children’s hospital, where her best friend lives, and she does her best to be herself.
One day Jacky learns of a local beauty pageant, and makes the decision to compete. She has no idea how much this one event will change her life for the better.
This is the real-life story of Jaclyn Stapp, unlikely beauty queen, told in rhyme with bright and colorful illustrations. While beauty is sometimes said to be skin deep, Stapp doesn’t believe it has to always be this way. Now Stapp empowers at-risk youth, champions women’s rights, and enriches the lives of underprivileged children. Wacky Jacky is truly beautiful from the inside out.
Jaclyn kicked off the book tour for her first children’s book, Wacky Jacky: The Story of An Unlikely Beauty Queen, on Friday, Feb. 25, at Le Petite Youth Spa in North Miami Beach. Jaclyn participated in a live reading, book signing and princess-inspired “play time” that included children trying on her authentic pageant crown and sash, baklava and pink lemonade tastings, and a fun question and answer portion. The launch marked her first appearance at multiple kid-friendly venues and book stores across the state.
